Film #59 of The December Project

'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' is a bad film, I don't think there is any denying that. It fails in so many areas, its terribly directed, terribly written, terribly performed, terrible make up, and terrible characters. This film may succeed in just one department, but it may be the most important of any film, and that is entertainment. The film is an unintentional laugh riot...

A meteor lands in a small American town, but the townspeople soon discover that it is not just a rock, its a group of clowns that look like Aliens (or Aliens that look like clowns,I'm not quite sure), these renegade clowns (or aliens) begin to terrorize the locals, and its up to a group of small hero's to save the day.

I was not expecting an intelligent Sci-Fi/Horror film here, I was expecting a mindless film, but 'Killer Klowns' defied my expectations. It gave me a film that makes the phrase 'Mindless' seem intelligent. I have no idea if this was intended to be an all out comedy back in 88, but that's all it can be called now, and it is incredibly funny. If the filmmakers were intending for comedic value, then they may have made the greatest comedy known to man, but if they were intending to induce fear, then they may have just made the worst film of all time. I like to think it was the former.

There are a countless amount of hilarious moments throughout the film. I would to take this moment to address my favorite scene from the film, Towards the end of the film, the Klowns (I can never spell Klowns with a 'C' again!) arrive at a fair or something of the sort, when they exit their Klown vehicle a Security Guard sees them and questions their presence, the Klowns proceed to pull of some pies (as Klowns do), the security Guard then delivers the best line of the film ''What're ya gonna do with those *pies*, boys?'' the Klowns proceed to pelt the pies at the Guard, but it gets better because they weren't just any ordinary pies, they were ACID PIES!!! and the Guard is scolded alive, Cinematic brilliance.

The script by the three Chiodo brothers is pure brilliant idiocy, there are some cringeworthy yet hysterical irrelevant quotes throughout the film, It actually may be the most quotable film ever made. Like when the two leads are exploring the circus tent (spaceship) and the idiotic male states, after looking the at the clown stuff, ''Isn't this place great or what? It looks like it was decorated by Klowns R Us.'' what a pathetically funny line, that is so literal and so insignificant that you cant help but laugh. The visual of this film are great, the clown make up seems so damn restricting to the actors, that it results in them having about the same amount of facial expressions as Kristen Stewart. The sets designs are very clownish, in a good way, I think...

The film features a slew of annoying characters. Mike Tobacco, played by Grant Cramer, is incredibly idiotic throughout the entire film, yet knowone seems to put any emphasis on it. His girlfriend, played by Suzanne Snyder, is almost goes missing for half the film, while a police officer played John Allen Nelson is pretty much the main hero. They also state that Debbie (a teenager in school) has had a past relationship with the police officer, is that legal ? that cops position should be instantly terminated!

'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' is a terribly enjoyable film (the emphasis being on 'terrible') there is so much fun to be had here that I cant not recommend this. Also always remember that ''In Space No One Can Eat Ice Cream!''

NOTE: This is for all intensive purposes, a bad film and all positive statements were due to the films enjoyment factor, as well as the inclusion of ACID PIES!
