The Hitcher (1986)

The Hitcher,1986,USA
Director:Robert Harmon
Stars:Rutger Hauer, C. Thomas Howell and Jennifer Jason Leigh

While driving a rental car between states,Jim Halsey(Howell)makes the deadly decision of stopping to pick up a Hitch Hiker(Hauer).Little does Jim know,he has picked up a sadistic serial killer who murders innocent drivers along the highway, and although he escapes his clutches once,The hitch hiker continues his killing spree all while framing Halsey and starting a large police chase in search of him.Along with the help of a Truck stop waitress named Nash (Jennifer Jason Leigh)Jim must find a way to prove his innocence all while ending The Hitch Hiker's reign of terror.

I love The Hitcher,Terrific imagery,A cool 80's score,Brilliant locations and its suspenseful plot make it an A-Grade thriller.C Thomas Howell is good here as the hero of the film and has good support when matched with Jennifer Jason Leigh. The show stealer though is the always brilliant Rutger Hauer as "The Hitcher",Hauer is terrifying and enthralling every second he's on screen and really elevates the film. The film also has some graphic violence and death scenes which makes Hauer's character even more intimidating.

The Hitcher is a terrific thriller,Rutger Hauer's performance is phenomenal.A Great suspenseful and scarily realistic film.
